August 1999 to May 2000<br> Manager of Safety <br> Responsible for safety, workers compensation, fire and medical activities for a 600 employee Union off road tire manufacturing facility. Defended company in an OSHA wall to wall inspection. Oversaw workers compensation administrator and settlement agreements. Implemented department safety audit program. Developed plant on-line computer database. Supervised 3.safety engineers, college intern(s), & secretary performing yearly reviews etc. Applied Japanese Management methods such as Kaizen. Worked closely with UAW Safety Reps. Selected to participate in MMMAIUAW Labor Contract Negotiations in 1992, 1995, & 1998 negotiating the safety and health section of the labor contract. Functioned as both corporate and plant safety. Participated in monthly safety meetings presented to the Board of Directors. Participated in MMMA's Return to Work Program review and update including essential job function program and functional capacity examinations. <br><br> <b>Industrial Hygiene</b><br> Purchased companies industrial hygiene equipment at plant start up in 1989. Set up and managed industrial hygiene program making sure all OSHA laws were met. Conducted baseline employee monitoring and regular plant wide surveys. Developed and implemented various IH related pollicies such as a chemical review program reviewing all chemicals to be purchased, company hazard communication program, PPE, respirator program, fit testing etc. Developed and implemented mainframe MSDS database. Managed company Hearing Conservation and noise reduction program. Oversaw outside consulting projects relating to air and noise sampling. Endured a 6 month OSHA Industrial Hygiene wall to wall inspection with "ZERO" I. H. related citations issued. Defended company in worker compensation trials. <br><br> <b>Safety Responsibilities</b><br> Supervised and directed the activities of three safety engineers. Developed and implemented various safety programs. Member of the MMMA  UAW Robotic and Energy Control Committee. Scripted and co-produced with the UAW a professionally made in house Lockout Robot Safety training video. Developed annual safety audit program, Participated in OSHA inspections, informal conferences and trial defense. Worked closely with UAW International and local Safety and Health Representatives. Worked with on site medical contractor concerning OSHA record keeping and medical issues. Reviewed and evaluated new equipment design drawings for safety and ergonomic concerns prior to building. Conducted plant wide safety audits, reviewed workstations and robot zones for guarding. Investigated accidents and incidents. Developed yearly employee Safety and Health Fair. Coordinated Safety efforts with nine Safety Coordinators from departments and Union Safety and Health Reps. Worked closely with all engineering departments to correct as well as "design-out' safety concerns. Interacted with on-site security guards and fire specialist.<br><br> <b>Ergonomics Responsibilities</b><br> Responsible for coordinating and implementing MMMA's formal Ergonomics Program. Co-chair of joint MMMA/UAW Ergonomics Committee. Coordinated ergonomics efforts of staff and production engineers. Worked Closely with UAW to developed and implemented various program forms and procedures. Implemented new equipment tooling and design specifications. Evaluated jobs for ergonomic improvements. Developed ergonomics newsletter, ergonomic protective equipment catalog & preferred posture postings. Implemented color ergonomics employee booklet outlining MMMA's ergonomic program. Coordinated Management, Staff and Associate ergonomic training programs. Toured, at the request of MMMA's CEO, 5 Mitsubishi Auto plants in Japan looking at Japanese ergonomic countermeasures and programs. Since formally implemented in 1994, the following ergonomic related injury reductions were -achieved: 1995-25%, 1996 -23%, 1998 - 18% drop in CTD'S, 1997 - 8% drop in Strains/Sprains. Presented MMMA's ergonomic program at the 1996 National Ergonomics Conference. Quoted in February 1996 Safety & Health Magazine article concerning back belts.
