Philosophy

ETC specializes in the use of objective measurement systems to analyze human interactive systems. The use of quantitative methods allows ETC to be confident in the validity and appropriateness of our recommendations and solutions.

ETC believes that it is essential to continually improve the methods available for workplace and product assessment that result in a reduction in injuries and operating costs with an increase in productivity. To this end, ETC maintains an active Research and Development effort dedicated to the development and advancement of ergonomic tools and techniques.

This effort has resulted in the conceptualization of several unique measurement devices and software for managing the workplace ergonomics process.

Ergonomics Process

The underlying goal of ETC's consulting services is to improve user interface for the purpose of optimizing performance and reducing error and injury potential.

The application of an ergonomics process can be managed through a consistent process that addresses physical, environmental and psychosocial issues. A good ergonomics process can lead to decreases in user musculoskeletal stress, discomfort and a reduction in potential for injury and error.

Psychosocial factors include items such as workload, task characteristics, work organization, culture and psychological stressors.

Environmental factors include items such as lighting, temperature, noise and other work climate factors.

Physical factors may include working postures, user anthropometry, workstation and equipment layout, workstation design and workflow.
